Zeno Clash

Zeno Clash

Now Zeno Clash would not be a game I would Have bought for myself but thanks to my Brother I was able to play it .

Zeno Clash is a first person shooter/beat them up, more a beat them up than a shooter. Based around a character called Ghat you are being hunted by your bothers for killing the farther-mother. Your reason for doing this is because you find out the farther-mothers secret and that secret is how you became its child. Take as a baby from your mother you discover this and take revenge. Your bothers are unaware of the real reasons for you doing this untill the end after you have defeated the evil farther-mother  and there the story ends.

Now at first glance the graphics were average at best and there was not a lot going on in the small areas that where to be the full levels, the character designs were very strange some tall, slim and had arms and legs as long as the body to normal human models. the amount of characters you came across were few and far between, not in the sence of how many enemies where on the map but how many different character models you came across. there where no more than 15 different enemies in the game and on each chapter you came across the same ones fighting them in every level up to the point you had ten of them coming at you at once.

The hand to hand combat was good and worked well with the option of locking on to the enemy for better focus but this became old really quickly and the lock-on was more of a problem than a help when you could not just run away to get some distance to find some health, A lot of the time you would find yourself dying due to the fact you could not get away. once two or more enemies came at you at once and started hitting you with combos from a few sides there was no chance of getting away from them and I ended up dying a lot of times due to this and it got very frustrating. the weapon combat was slow and a pain. you stopped reloading once you got hit and there was no auto reload once your gun was empty so remembering to reload while getting rushed was a pain, and the fact you dropped your weapon when you got hit by a melee attack got old fast when you had to run around trying to pick it up again only to drop it while reloading, there where only a small amount of guns to use and two different melee weapons which where only really effective after you charged up your power attack but that tuck so much time you found your self getting hit before you could use it effectively. There was not a great deal of action all in all it just made it longer than what it was due to the blocking of you attacks and the number of enemies you came up against at once.

The overall game play was Ok at best and the graphics where nothing to shout about but add into that the main story only taking three and a half hours to complete was very poor indeed. There is a challenge mode in there but i did not waste my time even trying it as I was just glad when the game was finished with.

Anyone that wans a quick, very basic built game that looks like something that was put together quicker than a piece of Lego go and buy it other wise stay clear and use that cash to buy something much better.

Mass Effect 3

It has been awhile since I last did a post, so I thought I would start again with one of my favourite series of games Mass Effect.
Mass Effect for me and many others has been a game where we have been able to connect very strongly with the characters, may it be with love or hate there has been an attachment with everyone who you meet. At the end of Mass Effect 2 I was so excited for the third game in the series to arrive, but in the run up to release when the multi-player was announced I have to say I was more than upset to hear that what was a full blown single player was going to be affected by what happened in multi-player. I have to hold my hands up and say I was mistaken and that the multi-player worked really well (apart from when you died and ended up spawning under the map and destroying what tactics you were using) but all in all it added extra fun to the overall gaming experience.
Starting out a new game again being able to transfer Shepard into the game continuing on the epic story that you have moulded into your very own. The very core game play was the same, decisions that you made effecting how your game played out, the combat felt a lot more smooth apart from the A button did far too much and sometimes hindered movement.
Depending how you did and what you did in the first two games that effect what characters you were able to team up and run into during you mission to save the galaxy. Luckily I was not a complete twat and ended up being the nice hero keeping my team together and helping save their lives in Mass Effect 2. Coming back into contact with some of the more loveable characters put a tear in my eye seeing how they had grown and made their own mark in history.
Mordin Solus a salarian geneticist that managed to cure the genophage with the help of the research which I kept during ME2. But how his story ended was emotional, seeing one of my favourite characters die knowing the only way to save him was to stop him from completing his work and destroying a friendship with Wrex was to hard to do. In the end doing what was right and saving a whole race at the expense of a close friend will always leave a mark.
Then we have Grunt, the test tube Krogen. The outcast of his race turned command of Aralakh Company, the meanest Krogen unit on Tuchanka. Again I came to love Grunt more so than I did Wrex. His remarks and his kick ass attitude was what made him in my eyes are one of the best companions to have with you. You meet up with Grunt while you go to help out his unit take out an old enemy, one which you help save in ME1, the Rachni! They had been in slaved by the reapers to make a more formidable enemy. Fighting your way thought the catacombs, taking out many Racni, you finally get to the main chamber where they have the queen entrapped making the endless supply of soldiers. Now me being me I thought I saved you once I will save you again, not realising that the Krogen’s would have to buy us some time, and then it happened! Grunt went on a mad killing spree destroying ravagers with parts of them self’s, ripping them apart left, right and centre, as the cut scene came round and your crew were running to the LZ that was it I thought there goes one more will it ever end. Then from no were covered from head to foot in blood Grunt walks out as you run over to help him the line made me chuckle he says “ has anyone got any food” thats why we love you grunt.
Legion the Crazy Geth, one of a kind, a Geth that wanted to end the war between them and their makers the quarian’s, in one mission you get hocked up into the Geth and you get to see all their memories and what happened between the two of them shining new light into what caused the war between the races. After seeing I choose to try and bring them both together, by freeing the Geth with the software that again we saved in ME2. The quarian’s were about to start a war within a war as there were about to blow the Geth out of the sky’s, or as they thought. Holding them off for a while, while Legion uploaded the date to help say his people there was a problem, an incompatibility issue with the software, there was only one way to solve it. Legion had to upload himself into the rest of the Geth leaving his body a empty shell but saving a lot of lives, again a good ally and friend ended up gone. But Heroes are the people what made a difference and he did that for sure.
There are still a lot of characters that I could bring up but this post is getting really long, there is just so much to talk about. But to the ending. The ending in my eyes was not as bad as what people were making out to be, yes there were unanswered questions, but the biggest one that got me was the very end. I was very anal when it came to playing the game I got the maximum resources I could which gave me the very last ending, it came after climbing the citadel, and it came after the cut scene after you made your choice. It was Shepard laid there under some rubble and you got to see him take one breath. Wow! Common give me more I say. But to this day i don’t know if I was dreaming climbing the citadel or if it happened or not, But it leaves it open for us the gamers to make our own decision on it. But me I see this being the start of something bigger.

Mass Effect 2

MassEffect2 cover.PNG

I said in an old post that Mass Effect was my favourite game that was until I played Mass Effect 2. I though the game could not get any better but they proved me wrong and the game was perfect. At first there were a few things that made me think they should have left that how it was like you now need ammo for your weapons instead of them over heating, but when you played it for 60 hours over 3 days like I did you know you have a special game in your hands.

Assassins Creed 2

Assassins Creed 2 cover.jpg

Now when someone asked me about Assassins Creed I always went into the same rant, every mission is the same it’s so repetitive, nothing changes, you help a few people, you kill your target then you run away then you repeat. This is all you did and because of this I never finished the game and never got to find out the whole story behind what was going on. So needless to say when I heard that Assassins Creed 2 was on the cards I always said “I am not getting that, I hated the first one” and in fact I didn’t buy it I stole my brother’s copy instead and I was not disappointed with this one.

The only thing to fear is fear it’s self, and fear fears Alma

Fear 2 is set minutes before the end of Fear, this time you take control of SGT. Michael becket, part of a special forces team sent to recover Genevieve Aristide, President of Armacham Technology. You arrive at your target just to be hit by the aftermath of a nuke set off by the original fear team at the end of the first Fear. X-Men origins Wolverine, He’s a bit of a animal

X-Menoriginsvideo_game

X-Men we all know the story behind them, who they are, what they can do, were they come from. Wolverine is not just one of the main characters but one of the fans favourites. Now this game did not come out for any of these facts, it came out as a film tie in, now we all know film tie ins are never good but yet we still buy them. This one how ever was a very good game,  a lot of effort went into the game play it may only be a hack and slash, action adventure which will follow some of the film but with the flash backs as well as the main story line, it tells you some of the things that he got up to before he became a X-Men.

Wolverine has a leveling system like most games now, you get XP from killing enemy’s with which you level. You can spend your points in upgrading your health to your different attacks which increases attack power and speed. You also pick up different perks as you go though the game that also increases different areas of your abilities which help you a lot as you go though the game.

Call of Duty 4 VS Call of Duty World at War

256px-Call_of_Duty_4_Modern_Warfare256px-Call_of_Duty_5_cover_art

The first Call of Duty I played was Call of Duty 3. I really enjoyed it being a massive first person shooter fan but once I finished it that was it I never played it again. I never thought about playing the older ones at all, then CoD4 got released this is when I found out just how big the title really is. Working in a Game store does that to you, it shows you what the popular games are so I bought it and I never looked back.

The CoD4 story was amazing being one of the only war games I have played being set in modern times and it also has my favorite levels of any game in it All Gillied Up.  CoD4 is one of the few games that made me want to play it on the hardest setting and what a challenge that was, but it was fun because you could not just fly thought it you had to plan your way though. Now the online side of it,  I have one word to explain it addictive. It’s that type of game that one more game turns into a 2 hour session. I meet and became good friends with a lot of people while playing CoD4 and we still play together today, you know who you are so I will say hello. You have all types of games for Free for all to Search and Destroy, but I will never forget the carnage that headquarters on shipment caused the word mayhem dont even cut it. The online maps were fantastic from close combat to a snipers paradise, but when the DLC came out what a disappointment. One map pack in its full life, 4 maps and only one good one out the lot, we were all very disappointed. Last on CoD4 we have the Mile High Club, I did not see this coming I went to make a brew only to return to see 30 seconds left and under heavy fire, this level was above all others but on veteran well I am still trying to finnish it.

Mass Effect Possible one of the best games I have played

mass effect

What kind of game would you class Mass Effect as? A thrid person shooter? or even a RPG? or something unique? It does not matter what type for game it is but the bottom line of it is that the game play is so simple and basic to use it brings out a whole new way of playing a game. You can simply go though blasting the living day lights out of any enemy that moves or you can go more tactical and use the quick menu, that only stops the game while it’s in use and then you are straight back in the thick of it.

Mass Effect may only offer three main classes to choose from but  when you also have a option to be able to have mixed classes the way you play the game is endless. May it be the firepower of a solder, or the ability to be able to control or even destroy the invading robots with the engineer or the force powers of the adept ( you might as well be a Jedi because thats all it is). You are able to choose a mix this can be more than devastating even tho you do not have the full skills of any class.
