Obsessed, addicted or just a geek

What kind of game would you class Mass Effect as? A thrid person shooter? or even a RPG? or something unique? It does not matter what type for game it is but the bottom line of it is that the game play is so simple and basic to use it brings out a whole new way of playing a game. You can simply go though blasting the living day lights out of any enemy that moves or you can go more tactical and use the quick menu, that only stops the game while it’s in use and then you are straight back in the thick of it.

Mass Effect may only offer three main classes to choose from but  when you also have a option to be able to have mixed classes the way you play the game is endless. May it be the firepower of a solder, or the ability to be able to control or even destroy the invading robots with the engineer or the force powers of the adept ( you might as well be a Jedi because thats all it is). You are able to choose a mix this can be more than devastating even tho you do not have the full skills of any class.

Thats just about the low down on the combat system, not much more to say about that bit but then I come to the story and massive amount so side missions that will keep you glued to your sit. I will start with the side missions which you can start picking up as soon as you land on the Citadel. Once you start they never seem to stop coming I am on my 4th play though and I have just started to do them all properly andI have already spent 8 – 10 hours doing the ones I can get without progressing to far into the game, as soon as I start to progress I just know more and more will open up. These missions will take you to all the clusters which contain many planets some of which you can land on and explore in order to complete your objectives. I could talk about this area all day, there is so much to do but I will move on and tell you how awesome the main story is. If you have not played Mass Effect and dont want to know the story stop reading now.

The main story, well were to start you are a commander on the one of a kind prototype ship called the Normandy which was created for the alliance by Turians. The story starts with Commander Shepard (this is the main dude) is sent down to a planet called Eden Prime were you are sent to a distress call were the planet has been attacked by the Geth. After you chase them off you are hit by a beacon that knocks you out and gives you images of the nightmare to come. Once you head to the Citadel you are given the privilege of becoming the frist human spectre (Secret argent) and you are sent out to stop what is about to end the whole universe as it is known. The story takes you to many planets and brings different races together to stop the unstoppable. I will say no more as again I could be hear all day.

Last but not least the leveling system very simple but again as most of the game works really well. There is not a lot to say about this bit apart from like any RPG when you level you get talent Points which you can spend to upgrade many different areas of your character. When you upgrade these ares youare given skills which you can then use in combat to defeat your enemy’s. As well as upgrading your weapons you can upgrade your armor as well with many different upgrades which you will pick up as well as weapons and armor.

Trust me when I say you play it once you will play it again it’s just that great and I cant wait till the next one comes out, so choose your path carefully as you are able to transfer your save game to Mass Effect 2.
